B-architecten

B is the sum of four studio divisions called B-architecten, B-bis, B-city and B-juxta. At B-architecten, we design sustainable buildings that enhance both the urban and the open space.

On 14 March, Enrico Onofri, project leader at B-architecten, participated in the panel discussion 'The invisible cities: inclusion, innovation and sustainability' on the occasion of the Italian Design Day 2024 in Brussels. The panel was an opportunity to reflect on the potential and future challenges of urban spaces, using the work of Italo Calvino, after whom the event was named, as a starting point. (New pictures!) City Dox 7 is a mixed-use building that strongly defines the public identity of the City Dox development on the Canal Zone in Brussels, one of the most important urban renewal operations in the capital. The project was recently completed and our photographer went by to capture it.

(Construction mania at the B-cinema) The B-cinema is our new Antwerp office space in a more than 1,000 m² former movie theatre. The greenery for our brand new patio was recently installed, including some beautiful trees for the ultimate green result. More pictures of the final post-renovation result soon!

(We won!) Campus Aquafin, the fully renovated, sustainable headquarters of the eponymous water treatment company, won the Belgian Building Award in the category 'Company Building Award'.⁠ Discover all BBA winners in the various categories >here<.

KU Leuven's Campus Opera was festively inaugurated in Antwerp's Jezusstraat. A major total renovation breathed new life into the iconic 1953 building. “This might be KU Leuven's most beautiful campus at present", dixit rector Luc Sels. More images >here<!

(Some very exciting news) Together with Skilpod, Group Van Roey and AHArchitects, B was selected for the framework contract Modulair Wonen of the Flemish government. Along with two other parties, we are eligible to design larger modular housing projects over a period of the next four years. (News) The book 'Bouw Anders: ontwerpen aan wonen met maatschappelijke meerwaarde' brings together various studies conducted in response to Groningen's 2022 architecture manifestation 'Bouw Anders', including B's research project CASCOOP.
